As is the case with many animal rescues, Hooves & Paws, Inc. does not receive any public funding. We rely entirely on the kindness of private donors to support our mission. We'd like to say, thank you to everyone that has so generously given to our rescue.

Due to the number of animals we have been dealing with over the last few months we have fallen behind on our thank you notes to everyone. We want everyone to know we are truely gratefull for your donations and the kindness you have shown us over the last few months and always. Because the animals we rescue are so important they care must come first. We are dealing with so many neglect and abuse cases all over Iowa, Nebraska and beyond. We are doing our best to get back on track and hopefully things will slow down a bit, but as of yet we are still working between 15 and 18 hours a day between our full time jobs and caring for the animals. We are continuing to respond to too many abuse and neglect cases. Please be patient with us.

Our recent Horse Fencing Project was completed October 2009 with the help of many wonderful  Volunteers.  A huge thank you goes out to the Schleip family from Sidney, Iowa.  The Schleip Family spent many long hours at the rescue helping us erect our horse fencing.  They are an incredible family. We also want to thank Susan from Omaha, NE who bought the land and donated it to our rescue for our expansion. Susan is a member of our board of directors and has been an true friend to us and the animals at our rescue facility.

AnnaBelle & Joker running and playing in the new area for the horses.  This area will be used for all of the horses to graze, run and play.

Jeannie Schleip organizes fundraisers for Hooves and Paws Animal Rescue. She spends most of her time petting and caring for all of the animals. Jeannie says, "At this santcuary the animals learn trust and are no longer in pain." She has raised over 500 dollars for the rescue so far. She has helped the owners build buildings, put up fences, transport the animals, and vet the animals.

We received a beautiful memorial donation from the daughter of a very special lady named Evelyn who passed away. Evelyn was involved in horse activities in the Ponca Hills area for over 50 years. We also received a donation and a gift card to Tractor Supply from someone in Omaha, NE and no name was given but we know who it is and we thank this person very much. It was sent from her lawyer. There was note inside and it said, Thank you Hooves & Paws Rescue for all you do for the horses & dogs who need help.  You helped me place my horse in a wonderful home and transported it over 100 miles as I did not have time to transport her. Although I miss her, I know now she has a family with children who will give her the time and attention she deserves. I was very lucky to find such a wonderful couple to help me.

We would like to send a special Thank you to the Chapman's of Thurman, Iowa for inviting us to set up our rescue booth July 14, 2007 at the 150th Anniversary of Thurman, Iowa.  Also, we want to Thank everyone who gave us such a warm welcome and to those who stopped by our booth to chat, visit with our horses, make donations and order T-Shirts to help support our rescue facility.  We found out there are a lot of nice people in Thurman, Iowa and we are very glad we had the chance to meet so many of them at this event.  We made a lot of new friends. We met the Schleip Family from Sidney, Iowa and they are wonderful people & animal lovers like we are so we of course hit it off and had some wonderful conversation.  And some special friends of ours who always have been so good to us at the rescue joined us for several hours at the event.  We want to thank Bruce & Gloria for stopping by and spending time with us.  Bruce & Gloria are from Glenwood, Iowa and they are a very special couple and good friends.

We thought that was pretty nice to get a note like that.  Things like that make all the hard work easy.

I want to send a special Thank You to the children at Grace Abbott Elementary School for the wonderful letters that they sent to me.  They were letters that I will keep forever.  They are truly priceless.  Each staff member should be very proud of all the children as I was very impressed with their manners and very grown up questions about our rescued animals.

Ivan & Dee we want to thank you so much for taking care of the (5) kittens that lost their Mommy and allowing us to take them in at our rescue. We want to thank Terry for bringing his tractor out and grading our horses area when our tractor was out for repairs.

We want to send a very special Thank You to Dianne Smith who owns Graphic Design by Dianne.  Dianne has donated her services to provide us with a wonderful and informative website about our rescue.  This would have been an expense that our rescue could not have made at this time.  Because of this service that was provided by Dianne we are about to take the money she saved us and put up extra fencing for our horse quarantine area. This will allow us to save many more horses then we previously thought. We will never be able to thank Dianne enough for the services provided to us for our rescue. 

Mary Waggoner, Genea’s mother, contributes daily to the rescue.  Keep in mind that she is 80 years old and can out work anyone here. She lives in a home on the property and spends her days working right along with my husband and me with all of the animals.  She spoils them each day and spends special time with those animals that need extra attention and love.  She has always been right there to help when we need an extra hand. From cleaning stalls to grooming the animals we can always count on her help.  Thank you Mom, for being there for all of our animals and giving them so much attention and love. Currently she is learning to drive the tractor to help out with the fields. 

A Cut Above Tree Service has offered to cut down and haul away several trees on the rescue’s property.  Also, they provided a large bag of dog food for our rescued dogs.  We want to Thank A Cut Above Tree Service for the services provided and also the dog food.
 
Office Max provided our business cards for our rescue.  They worked very hard with us to get the design that we wanted on our cards.  We want to thank them as these cards allow us to promote our rescue each and everyday. 

Eddy’s in Glenwood has allowed the rescue to set up a donation jar at their store.  We have received many phone calls regarding our rescue because of this.  Also, the money we collect each week is put toward the animals care and this is a huge help.  The Manager at Eddie’s shared a wonderful story with us about a couple from Kansas that came in and were reading the information on our jar.  They were working at the Power Plant in Glenwood and they stopped at Eddie’s to get gas on their way back home to Kansas.  They had $8.00 in change coming back from their gas purchase.  They told the manager to put the $8.00 in our jar as a donation to help our rescue. $8.00 buys a bag of horse feed and that is what it was spent on.  We want to thank them, for their kindness. 

Michelle Hall, a good friend of ours, has contributed several things to our rescue.  The most important is her positive attitude and her encouragement along the way.  Michelle has a great love for all animals.  Thank you for everything Michelle.
