Happy Endings
These are many of the animals successfully adopted from Hooves & Paws Rescue, Inc.

All of Jamie's puppies have since been adopted to wonderful homes. Now Jamie needs a special home. She is doing wonderful at the Rescue/Shelter, but she needs to find a forever home that will love her and care for her and give her a chance to show them what a sweetheart she is. Jamie has been spayed and fully vetted, loves other dogs, plays well with children. She is an inside, outside dog but must not be left outside alone as she gets bored and will climb fences without a doggy friend to keep her Company. She is a dog that could set on your lap all day to be loved. But she also needs to play and loves to run with the other dogs. She she is a great dog for a family.

It seems to never end. Once again there is yet another heartless act of cruelty that has happened. We were called this morning and asked if we could take in eight three week old puppies and their Mommy that were found dumped on a country road in Mills County, Iowa. One of the puppies has died, another is in very bad condition and was not moving upon arrival and three others are not doing well and three are in fair condition. We are hopeful with some special care, time and lots of TLC the remaining puppies and Mommy will all heal. Mommy is very underweight and has very little milk to nurse her babies. We took Mommy along with her puppies into the Vet today to be evaluated.

They weakest babies will need to be bottle fed until Mommy can gain enough weight to nurse them. Mommy is very sweet and allowed us to touch all of her babies so we could help them. Mommy is also dealing with a large number of ticks that were all over her so she has been through a lot. She will be treated for ticks once we get her stable, and get some food and water in her little frail body.

We are in need of donations to help cover the cost of the Vet Bills, food supplements for the sick babies and special food for Mommy to help her gain weight. Once everyone is stable we will need to give all babies their shots and also Mommy will get her shots. We will also need to pull blood once Mommy is well to make sure she is heartworm negative as she has a cough which could be the heat and lack of food and water. Donations can be made through our website using Pay Pal or mailed to our Rescue/Shelter at the address above. Please mark your donations Mommy & Babies.

She is truly a good Mommy. It is so sad to watch her suffer like this and with the heat we feel she and the seven remaining puppies are very lucky to be alive. Mommy was at 31 lbs. today, very under weight. The biggest puppy was 1 lb 5 oz. You can feel their ribs and backbones. They are so little!

This was the baby was not moving when he arrived at our Rescue/Shelter. Once he was given water with an eye dropper he started to move but is still very weak and has bruising on his little tummy which the Vet noticed.

All donations are greatly appreciated and no amount is to small. Please dig deep into your pockets for this Mommy and her babies. They all deserve a second chance and we are going to give them that chance. They are all precious.

We will be taking adoption agreements for Mommy and each one of the puppies once we get them going in the right direction. Babies will remain with Mommy until they are weaned. We believe in miracles and this is what we need at a time like this.

Finally, if you recognize this Mommy and think you know who she belongs to please contact us at Hooves & Paws Rescue. All information will be confidential.

07/28/2011 Update on Mommy & Puppies found on a rural road in Mills County, Iowa

Mommy Dakota (her new name) and her puppies are doing better since the first day they arrived. Puppies are very small but gaining weight. They are moving around more and their eyes are open. They are just 4 weeks old in these pictures. Mommy and puppies will be ready for adoption once the puppies are weaned. We are accepting adoption applications for Mommy Dakota & the puppies. Adoption forms can be found on our website under forms. We have six little boys and one little girl. All of the puppies & Mommy Dakota have been de-wormed and all have been Vet checked. Mommy is a Beagle/Hound mix. We do not know who Daddy was but he must have been black because that is the main color of puppies. Mommy Dakota is a very sweet dog and she gets along with both dogs and cats. She is also poddy trained and does not bother anything in the house. News Story

Update 8/15/11
We are still in need of forever homes for three puppies and Mommy Dakota. All puppies will be ready to go to their new homes Sunday August 21, 2011. All have been Vet checked, wormed and have their puppy shots. Mommy Dakota will be spayed before adoption but then she will be ready to go to her forever home. She is sweet, very laid back and is looking for a family to love her. As with all of our adoptions a fenced secure area is required. Please contact us if you are interested in one of these beautiful little Beagle mixed puppies or their Mommy.

Howie has been adopted to a wonderful family in Nebraska. We would like to thank Howie's foster home for helping us promote Howie's adoption. He now has his forever home.

Howie is looking for a family to love him. Howie's former Owner contacted us to try and find him a perfect home. They worked long hours and Howie spent most of his days in a crate. Howie is fully vetted, would do well with children and does not mind cats. He is 15 lbs, sweet, and loves attention. He is just a year old.

Update on Howie - Howie has been placed in a foster home until adoption is possible. If you are interested in Howie we ask that you fill out an adoption agreement that can be found on our website under forms and let us know when you would like to meet Howie in person. Howie would make a great addition to any home. As with all of our adoptions we do require a fenced yard. Howie must be part of your family and he must be an inside dog.

Howie Update 10/31/11
The following is an update on Howie from his foster family in Nebraska. We also want to share Howie with his new haircut.
Howie has been doing very well! He is adorable, lovable, and so sweet! He has had a ton of 'firsts' this week. He has been living with two much larger dogs, but he doesn't seem to mind. I'm pretty sure he thinks he's just as big as they are ;) and he prefers their toys over the small ones! As I mentioned before, he got his hair cut, which the groomer thought was very traumatic for him,as she believed it was his first time at the groomer due to his exceptionally adverse behavior. He also spent some time at doggie day camp. The Owners of the camp said that he enjoyed himself and played very well with the other dogs. He has met a ton of new people (including children), and has done very well with all of them. We have had him off leash most places we go, as he listens very well and doesn't run off. His owner was feeding him soft dog food, so we've been working on weaning him off the soft food and onto dry dog food. Thankfully his body seems to be adjusting well.
Howie may be almost 1 yr old, but his behavior is more in line with that of a 6 month old puppy. He isn't fully potty trained and still requires supervision. The other dogs are assisting us in helping Howie learn what behavior is acceptable, and they are turning into great buddies. It's apparent that Howie has had a traumatic crate experience, as well as separation concerns but he is getting better each day. Because he is not potty trained, he goes into a crate if we are going somewhere he's not allowed. The first couple times, he was very upset at our departure and overjoyed to see us return. We currently feed him in his crate and he seems to be learning that it's not so bad. He's not had to spend more than a couple hours in the crate, as I work from home, which I also think has helped.

Molly03/19/10 Update on Molly
Molly is doing wonderful in her foster home, but longs for a family to adopt her.  She is getting along beautifully with Charlotte & Big Boy Bo, two Rottie friends.  We want to thank Jody, one of our foster homes in Glenwood, IA for teaching Molly about love and trust. Jody is doing an incredible job with Molly and hopes like we do that Molly will find a forever home to go to for the rest of her life. Jody told us recently that Molly runs and plays and having three legs has not slowed her down. She is a very active and sweet girl with a lot of love to give.

mollyThis is Molly. She is a mixed breed hound under (2) years old. She came to Hooves & Paws Rescue with a broken leg in three places. Molly was also very thin when she arrived. The person who had Molly could no longer care for her so we were asked to take Molly and give her the medical care she needed. Upon arrival our Vet told us that Molly had no feeling or movement in this leg and advised us to remove the leg. Molly is in foster care at this time healing inside and out. She does not like being left alone. She gets along with other dogs and loves attention. Molly is doing very well with three legs. Molly is in need of a sponsor to help cover the cost of removing her leg. Adopt Me

Update - Molly has been adopted by her foster family who live in Iowa. They have done an incredible job with Molly. Having three legs has not slowed Molly down. She keeps up with her two Rottie sisters who love her very much! We want to thank her foster family for never giving up on Molly. They worked very hard helping Molly understand not all people are bad. She was a handful and had many fear issues when she arrived. But Molly has learned about love & trust and now she has a family to love her forever! Good job Molly.

My Family Moved And Left Me To Take Care Of Myself

Meet Duke. His family moved and left him behind. Hooves & Paws Rescue was called to take him to safety. He is a 10 month old male German SH Pointer. He is a sweet boy and needs a family to love him. Duke is in foster care in the Council Bluffs, IA area and can be seen by appointment only. As with all of our adoptions a secure fence and adoption agreement is required. If you would like to meet Duke please contact us at Hooves & Paws Rescue.Duke has been Adopted
With the help of two special ladies working to help us place Duke he has been adopted. We want to thank them for all their hard work helping us find Duke a forever home. Be happy Duke! You are a beautiful boy. We hear you are going to be doing some hunting with your new Dad and that he loves you alot!

January 3, 2011 - A call came in today on this beautiful boy out of Carthage, MO who was found as a stray. He is Urgent. He's very laid back and just wants a forever home to rest his old bones. He is about 8 -9 years old. He is altered & UTD on all his shots. Please consider giving him a home for the rest of his life. Imagine being this old and ending up all alone with out a family to love you. His time is short to find him a home. Let's get him on the road and headed to his forever home this week. He would be wonderful for a family that just wants a sweet older dog to love and cuddle with.

Great News!! This beautiful boy has found his forever home. He has been adopted by a wonderful family in Nebraska. They are very gentle and caring people and have a soft spot in their hearts for older dogs. He has been named Lou. He has a new girlfriend as you can see in this picture. Both are older dogs so this was a perfect home for Lou. He can kick back, relax and be spoiled and pampered. We are very thankful that we were able to help Lou find his forever home. We are also very thankful such a wonderful family stepped up for this sweet old man.
Here are some pictures of Lou at his new home with his new buddy. What a good looking couple!!

Blossom Has Been Adopted

We would like to update everyone on Blossom, our rescued Bloodhound that was adopted to a wonderful family in NH. She was suppose to fly to her new home but due to her size and the size of the crate she needed she got bumped off of the flight, which is a long story but it ends happy. Her new Daddy Joel drove from NH and picked her up at the rescue. They had a very long ride home to NH but now that she is there everything is turning out to be a fairy tail for Blossom. She is pampered, spoiled and very happy in her new home. Her new family keeps us updated on a weekly, sometimes daily on how she is doing. She has two small children that she protects, loves and watches over. She also has a sister dog named Annie. She also has two new wonderful parents, Joel & Tiffany. They are truly amazing people. We are so happy for Blossom and thankful that she found such a wonderful family to call her own. This is a picture of Blossom in her new home. It is cold in NH in the winter but it looks like Blossom is pretty cozy with her new coat and tons of blankets resting in their living room. Good job Blossom, you won their hearts like you did ours the first time we met you. Although you are far away we now you are safe and happy and that is what matters sweet girl.

We are very excited to share with everyone that Blossom has found her forever home in NH. The Provost Family who has adopted Blossom loves Bloodhounds. They have followed Blossom and her progress since she arrived at Hooves & Paws Rescue. They recently lost their beloved Bloodhound Dakota. He was a wonderful loving boy who was also rescued. Although Dakota can never be replaced we know Blossom will do her best to bring them joy and happiness like she has to us. She has made remarkable progress and she has grown into a sweet and loving girl. She is going to take her first plane ride to meet her new family October 23, 2010. More Later....

Blossom our Bloodhound girl is looking for a forever home.  Her leg is healed and she is doing very well.  She is a very playful & sweet girl.  She loves her toys.  She is very dog friendly but does not like cats!  She is spayed & UTD on all medical care.  Blossom should be part of a family.  She is not a hunting dog and should never be kept in a kennel of any type. Secure fencing is required as with all of our dog adoptions. If you can give Blossom a forever loving home please contact our rescue.

February 28, 2010 Update On the (7) Rescued MO Puppies
puppies
First of all we would like to thank the McCool's from MO for alerting us regarding these (7) puppies that were left on the property by their former Owner and taking the (7) puppies to one of our foster homes in the MO. area. Without this wonderful husband & wife team these puppies would not survived. We would also like to thank Jodi, who is one of our many incredible foster homes for fostering & loving our (7) rescued puppies until they were old enough to be adopted. (4) of the puppies were adopted as of February 28, 2010 through Hooves & Paws Rescue. Of course Jodi our adopted one of the puppies!! The remaining (3) puppies went to our good friends at Basset and Beagle Rescue in NE. They will be working on placing the remaining (3) puppies in adoptive homes. Here are some pictures of the last (3) puppies leaving Hooves & Paws Rescue with Basset and Beagle Rescue. Be happy sweet puppies. We are so happy we could help you start a new life.

UPDATE 11/17/10 This is a picture of Maddox (now known as Max) from his new family that adopted him. He is doing wonderful with his new family. His new family loves him and he now has a new buddy who is huge like he is so this is another plus. We are so excited about this adoption and thankful to his new family for taking this big guy under their wing and into their family. Great job beautiful boy Max!

Maddox - (3) Year Old Saint Bernard Has Been Adopted
Maddox has found his forever home. He is a gentle giant with a lot of love to give and now has a special family to give his love to. Be happy beautiful boy.

adoptadoptMaddox was rescued by an individual a few months ago. He was abandoned at a local farm. He is UTD on all his shots, he is heartworm negative and he is a sweetheart. He is very submissive and he is fearful of men unless they are very gentle with him. He does fine with women. He has never offered to bite and is not aggressive in any way. He also does good with other dogs and cats. He knows how to sit, shake, lay down and does pretty good with stay. He needs to be an inside dog with access to the outside at all times. When he needs to go poddy he has not mastered the day without an accident as the people both work full time. So the ideal situation would be a doggy door for him. He can't be left outside all day long in the heat or cold. He prefers inside to outside. As you can see he is a beautiful boy. Maddox will be adopted through our Rescue/Shelter to insure that he finds the perfect home. As with all our adoptions a secure fence is required, no chains are allowed and kennels are not allowed inside or outside due to his size. Maddox is with the family that rescued him and he is located in Omaha, NE. Please contact us if you can give Maddox a forever home and we will make arrangements for you to meet him in person.

Mixed breed puppies are in need of a home.

All seven mixed breed puppies have been adopted to wonderful homes. We are excited for all of them. A wonderful lady named Leslie Scott took all seven puppies under her wing and made this happen in record time. All of these puppies are happy & sweet and have started a new life with their special famlies.

We should be about 50 lbs when full grown. There are seven of us.  We are with a very nice family that is caring for us that volunteer at Hooves & Paws Rescue.  They live in Glenwood, IA just minutes from the Rescue if you would like to see us.  We are very loving and sweet.  We have been around large dogs, chickens, horses (not real close) and cats. We get along with all of them and they love us also.  All we need is lots of love and a promise of a forever home.

We want to thank everyone at the River Radio Station for posting Sully as pet of the week January 19th - 26th .  Sully was adopted to a wonderful family in Hastings, NE.  He left for his new home Sunday January 24, 2010. We are very happy for Sully. Be happy Sully, your a good looking boy!

Sully is a very cute male mixed breed puppy about (3) months old who is looking for a family to love him. He is very sweet, loves to play with other dogs, gets along fine with cats and is working on his poddy training.

Sadly Sully’s Owner passed away Friday January 15, 2010 so Sully is being cared for by a wonderful lady who fosters for our rescue until a forever home can be found for him.

If you think you can open your home and heart to Sully and provide a forever home for him please contact us to meet him in person. We will require an adoption agreement which can be found on our website under forms and a home check will be done before adoption is possible. As with all of our adoptions a secure fenced yard is required.
The River Radio Station 89.7 the River made Sully, pet of the week Jan19-26!

Update
This update came to us from the Family that adopted little Sully, (now known as Sawyer) We have had the pleasure of watching Sawyer (formerly known as Sully) grow! It will be a year next week that we drove to Glenwood, IA and met foster mom Carol holding a dear pup we can't imagine life without.

Sawyer lives with 2 other dogs, big brother yellow Labrador, Fisher, and big sister German Wirehair/German Shorthair mix, Sydney. He also lives with 3 cats, Chloe, Shelby and Keeper.

Sawyer and the rest of our critter crew will be getting a little sister from the country of Turkey this coming April. She is an Anatolian Shepherd that was rescued from the streets eating orange peels to survive. Cameo will be her name and we have a heck of a story about how she is coming into our lives in Nebraska.

Hope all is well with the rescue! Thanks so much for the honor of havingSawyer! My husband and I can't imagine life without him! By the way I swear he can count! He knows who's inside and who is still outside going potty. He worries until everyone is back inside or he goes out and herds who is taking their time doing their business! Lol!

Gayle and Wes
Hastings, Nebraska

We love to get updates about animals we have adopted. Sully was unwanted when he came to us at Hooves & Paws Rescue. Now look how spoiled and happy he is. We are so happy for you Sawyer. And we thank people like Gayle and Wes for opening their home and heart to animals in need.

Lobo has been adopted. Thank you to Kathy from K-9 Coach Learning Center in York, NE for caring enough about Lobo to find him a wonderful home. You are a good looking guy Lobo!
A good friend of ours in York, NE who owns K-9 Coach Learning Center, L.L.C. has a (4) month old male puppy that she is trying to find a wonderful forever home for. She has asked us to try and help her find this home. She got Lobo from a young man who could not care for him properly. She is asking for a re-homing fee of $175.00 and a promise of a forever home. The $175.00 will cover only her Vet bills for Lobo.

If you are interested in Lobo please contact her directly and tell her you heard about Lobo from Hooves & Paws Rescue, Inc. As you can see he is a very pretty boy and full of life!

Little Lady was adopted January 10, 2010 by Jared & Brittany Wiley in York, NE. Little Lady has a new little dog friend named Belle. Little Lady and Belle have both been given a second chance at a happy life by Jared & Brittany.

We were contacted at Hooves & Paws Rescue because Little Lady's Owner said he was going to shoot her for chewing. She was being left outside when the temps were below zero. She was in great danger with her former Owner. We knew no matter what we had to do she needed to get to a safe place. She was removed from her former Owner and was put in one of our wonderful foster homes. We want to thank Susan & her Mom as always for helping with foster care. Little Lady had no chewing problems once in foster care. She is a true sweetheart and she loves to give everyone she meets lots of kisses. We are very happy we were called to help Little Lady. She is one of the lucky ones.

This sweet little Corgi came into our rescue as an Owner Surrender at (9) months old. He has had a rough start in life as he has already been in two homes. adoption pending.

Mr Bojangles (Bo)
has been adopted. He has a new Corgi friend named Kokomo and a wonderful family to love him. Thank you Darcy & Drew from Lincoln, NE for giving Bo a second chance at a happy life. We want to thank Deb Landon for fostering Mr. Bojangles(Bo) and helping us find him his perfect forever home.

MaddieMaddie, a (10) year old GSD was owned by an elderly lady who passed away. Maddie needed a perfect home after the loss of her Owner. She found that home with individual in Lincoln, NE. We want to thank the River Radio Station for promoting Maddie's adoption. They did an incredible job and we truly appreciate it. A huge thank you goes out to Sophia at the River Radio Station for keeping Maddie as Pet Of The Week until Maddie was adopted. We received over 100 phone calls on Maddie with offers from individuals to adopt her. Her adoption was hard due to the fact that she was an older dog, did not like cats and we found out after a while she was not wild about other dogs. In her new home she will be the only dog so this is a perfect home for Maddie. We are very happy for you Maddie.

Bess & Babe were adopted to a wonderful family. This little girl is amazing with these ponies.  When we picked them up you could not touch them.  Now look at them.  This is an example of what a little love can do for animals. And, how little children make miracles happen.

Percy a (8) year old QH/Arabian has found his forever home with Janet in Iowa.  Percy has a new friend named  JJ.  Percy is in the lead in this picture.  When we took Percy out of the trailer and he met his new friend JJ they took off running together likes old buddies. JJ is a big sweet older QH.  He showed Percy all around when Percy arrived at his new home.

Percy had a rough life before we he was rescued by Hooves & Paws. Percy was not touched for almost (2) years and he was not being fed on a regular basis. When we rescued Percy he was also dehydrated. His new Owner Janet is a wonderful Lady and she fell in love with Percy the first day she met him. Be Happy Percy.  We love you beautiful boy!!  And we know Janet and JJ do to!!

George has been adopted to some very close friends of ours in Council Bluffs, IA.  They are huge animal lovers and George will have a fantastic home with John & Linda.

George is an 8 month old White Lab...a beautiful dog and very, very smart ...very mild mannered for the breed and age.  He is neutered and UTD on shots.  He lived with a family with a 4 year old who he was very gentle with.  Also he gets along wonderfully with other dogs.  The family is expecting another baby and have decided that George is not getting the attention he deserves.

Rudy, now known as "Moose" has been adopted to Ben & Carissa in Omaha, NE. A huge thank you goes out to our foster home "Grandma" for caring for Moose while waiting to be adopted.  Also, we want to thank Susan a good friend to all of us at the rescue for helping us find the perfect home for Moose.

Volunteer Fireman in Pacific Junction, Iowa.  He said that he was on his way home and picked up a little mixed breed dog that was about 15 lbs that was sitting on the side of the Highway.

When he & his son arrived with the dog at the rescue the little dog was shaking but very sweet, has good weight and appears to be in good health. He has a nice coat and was very clean. This is a picture of the Volunteer Fireman's son holding the dog. Both father & son were huge dog lovers but said they have three big dogs and thought it was best they did not add a dog so small to their mix.

Wilber has been adopted!!  He went to a wonderful forever home in MO.  He will be living at Mastiff Hope Rescue as a forever resident. We want to thank our transport & Mastiff Hope for taking Wilber and giving him a second chance at a wonderful life. Your a good looking guy Wilber.

Harry, now known as Marley has been adopted  to the Behrens family in Villisca, IA.  Your a lucky boy Marley.  You have a great home and a family to love you forever!

We received a phone call tonight from an individual that said that a dog had shown up at their home in the country and had been staying around and just laying on their porch.  The caller was very concerned because the neighbor said if the dog came on his property he was going to shoot him. Because the dog was very friendly he did go to the neighbors and got kicked and chased away.  The caller asked that we come & get the dog as he feared for the dog's safety.

We of course got the address of the caller and went out to get this wonderful dog who was more than likely dropped off out in the country.  When we arrived the dog came right up to us, we opened our door & he jumped right in our truck. We had a large pillow ready for him.  He got right up on the pillow and fell asleep.  He never made a sound the whole ride.

He was placed in one of our foster homes only a few minutes from our rescue facility. He is a small yellow Lab.  He appears to be young, under (2) years old, very friendly and does have some manners.  He did however drop towards the ground when Billy tried to pet him so he may have been abused previously.  Or being kicked the callers neighbor may have made him shy away from Billy. He was fine with women petting him.

Lily has found the perfect forever home.  Lily went to her new adoptive home 2/15/09 in MO.  This is a picture of Lily with her new Mom, Denise.  Denise is an incredible loving person who will give Lily everything she needs and more, for the rest of her life.

Lily meets her new Mom Denise for the first time at the rescue.  This is what adoption is all about.

Lilly is a (9) month old Bassett Hound that is looking for a forever home that will love her and pamper her.  She has had a very rough life so far.  She was locked in a basement for several days at a time & kicked & beat by her previous Owners.  Although she had a very rough beginning she has bounced back with the help of a great family.  But sadly this family already has (2) other special needs dogs and just can't keep Lilly any longer.  So once again Lilly is looking for that perfect forever home.  Our hope is to place Lilly ASAP.  She is a sweet girl that gets along with other dogs and just needs a chance to prove what a wonderful girl she truly is.

Butchie has been adopted Butchie a (9) -year-old dog was left at a local shelter by his owners because they couldn't afford him anymore.

He's was a mixed-breed dog, probably shepherd, around 70 pounds. Butchie was tested for heartworm and he came up positive. So the logical decision was to euthanize him. But a wonderful friend of our's who works very hard for the animals at the shelter took yet another special dog under her wing and sent an e-mail out asking for someone to please help Butchie and adopt him.  She even offered to cover the cost of the heartworm treatment and any other Vet care he needed.  Hooves & Paws Rescue got the e-mail and pictures of Butchie.

We would like to share some pictures of Butchie at his new home.  We will keep everyone updated on Butchie's progress during his heartworm treatment. We want to thank Carla who works at the shelter as a volunteer and is a true angel to so many animals at the shelter.  And a huge thank you to Tami for giving Butchie a forever home and a second chance.

Update on Butchie
According to Butchie's adoptive family he is doing great and he will receive his final heartworm treatment in January 2009.  Another life has been saved thank's to the wonderful family from Treynor, Iowa who adopted Butchie and gave him a second chance at life.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We recently had an Owner surrender (3) very special Doberman's to our rescue.  Due to the circumstances of the surrender these (3) dogs were sent out of state to a wonderful family that will be assessing them and working with them get them ready them for adoption.

Here are a couple pictures of these wonderful dogs. On outward appearances they look fine. But sometimes spirits are broken and this is what our foster/safe house will be working on with each of these dogs.

All the Doberman's have been adopted to wonderful forever homes. We want to thank Tami who is one of our foster/safe houses for rehabilitating Roxie and Chance so that they could be adopted.

Help them heal and make them whole again
